Seabreeze High School recently chose its Mr. and Miss Seabreeze for the next school year, and they will represent the school at functions and community events as its ambassadors.
Mr. Seabreeze 2021 is Tommy Bunch, who played JV football his freshman year and has been a member of the varsity team for the last two, according to his bio, which was submitted to the Observer. Bunch is also a member of the varsity weightlifting team, the school's unified sports, and the Cambridge AICE program. He hopes to attend the University of Florida and major in biology or biological sciences, with the goal to one day become a doctor and form part of Doctors without Borders to assist in humanitarian emergencies.
Miss Seabreeze 2021 is Lila Massebeau, a member of the American Musical Theater, cross country, AVID and the school's vocal ensemble where she serves as secretary. She hopes to attend the University of North Florida and major in elementary education and minor in psychology, her bio states. One day, she hopes to be an impactful person in children's lives.
In addition, the school announced students Christopher Beebe and Hannah Blake as its Mr. and Miss Congeniality.
Security First Insurance recently promoted David Lockhart as chief financial officer, effective June 1, according to a press release.
Lockhart succeeds Clive Becker-Jones, who is retiring from the company after serving for 10 years. Lockhart joined Security First as controller in November 2016, bringing nearly 15 years of accounting and insurance experience. Prior to that, he held different positions across finance and insurance companies including chief financial officer, controller and auditor.
"David has been an essential part of the company's growth and financial stability," said Melissa Burt DeVriese, president of Security First Insurance, in the press release. "He will continue to help us with strategic planning, business analysis, and building a world-class homeowner's insurance company that finds ways to tailor coverage and meet the ever-changing needs of our customers."
In addition, Brad Jones was named controller in the company. He has worked with Security First since 2019 as an assistant controller with over 18 years of accounting experience.
Volusia County is awarding summer camp scholarships for income-eligible children through its community assistance division.
Families with children entering first through sixth grade ages 5-12 are eligible, according to a county press release. Five year olds must have completed kindergarten prior to camp. Children up to 17 are also eligible if attending approved special needs camps.
