Causing a scene

3:37 p.m. — 100 block of Pine Cone Trail

Disorderly intoxication. A 31-year-old Ormond Beach man was arrested for causing a disturbance in a neighborhood by running, yelling and screaming.

According to his arrest report, the man caused about four people to come out of their homes, and one witness saw him yelling at a teenager while taking his shirt off. Police report the man made no direct threats to anyone, but that he did in fact, cause a scene. The reporting officer was directed to him by people standing outside and pointing in his direction.

When the officer approached the man, he was compliant and sat on the curb. The man was unaware about his location and what he was doing. The man did admit to using some type of narcotic, but was unsure what "exactly was in said narcotics," according to the police report.

He was taken to jail.

Peppered

6:45 p.m. — 600 block of Fleming Avenue

Vandalism. A 47-year-old Daytona Beach man told police that, while at a local park, he believed his car had been vandalized. The vandalism act? Someone placed green and yellow peppers on his door handle.

According to the incident report, the man believed the perpetrator to be his girlfriend's 13-year-old son. The man pointed out some scratches on the vehicle, but the reporting officer believed them to be old, as the car had other areas of damage. The man didn't want to press charges; he just wanted the incident to be documented.

However, less than an hour later, the reporting officer was dispatched to a local gas station for another vandalism notified by the man. He told police that his brake lines had been cut and once again, suspected his girlfriend's son. The officer noted the brake lines appeared frayed. The man then informed officers he wished to pursue charges, but based on witness testimony, the officer did not feel the 13-year-old boy was a suspect.

Road rage

7:20 a.m. — Intersection of U.S 1 and Nova Road

Criminal mischief. A 25-year-old Holly Hill faces charges after he destroyed his sister's car and threw her belongings all over the road.

The reporting officer was flagged down at a local gas station parking lot regarding a man's actions, and when he and deputy approached the scene, they noticed debris and personal belongings scattered on the road as well as a vehicle stopped in the 900 block of North U.S. 1. The man was seated in the passenger seat of the car, and said to police that he didn't know what had happened as he hadn't been awake at the time of the incident.

He told police that his sister owned the vehicle and had been driving him but wasn't sure where she had gone. The car had been heavily damaged.

Later, his sister made contact with police and said that her brother came over to her house that morning and asked her to give him a ride to go buy drugs. When she declined, he started destroying items inside of her home until she ran him out of her house and told him she would drop him off at their mother's. While driving, the man became upset with another motorist and punched him in the head.

The sister told police that her brother got back in her car and as they approached the intersection of U.S. 1 and Nova Road, he lashed out again "in an uncontrollable fit," according to the police report. Fearful of his actions, she soon parked the vehicle and walked away. Her brother continued to destroy it with a piece of asphalt, and threw her belongings in the road.
