The Mayor’s 90/90 Challenge officially started Jan. 4 and runs through April 3. Complete 90 miles in 90 days and receive a medal! “Those small steps, taken day after day, add up to a healthy lifestyle,” Mayor Holland said. Log on to palmcoastconnect.com or download the Palm Coast Connect app from the Google Play store or the Apple app store. Special Events for February:

Feb. 1 through 15 – Women’s Self-Defense – Mondays, Feb. 1-15, 6-8 p.m. at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Learn effective methods to ward off attackers in this three-day class. Commander Michael Lutz from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office will teach you skills that will make you more aware of your surroundings as well as methods to protect yourself and safety tips to implement right away. Feb. 1 and 15 – Monday Funday – Mondays, Feb. 1 & 15, 10-11am at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Let’s reclaim Mondays! For too long, Monday has been the most dreaded day of the week. Well that ends now! This child-with-parent program will provide an enjoyable and educational environment for your child to explore social, emotional, physical and cooperative play opportunities through movement, music, interactions and problem-solving skills while having fun with their peers! Feb. 2 – Caregiver Support Group – Tuesday, Feb. 2, 11:30am-12:10pm at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Presented in partnership with Brookdale Palm Coast. When caring for an aging parent or spouse, you may feel like no one understands what you’re experiencing. Join our Caregiver Support Group, and take a break with other caregivers. Feb. 3 – Our Neck of the Woods – Wednesday, Feb. 3, 10-11am at Linear Park, 31 Greenway Court, Palm Coast. Discover the treasures hidden throughout Linear Park! Through the use of story time, crafts, nature walks, and the occasional critter meet-and-greet, this program will augment your child’s cognitive learning, communication skills, and hand-eye coordination. Feb. 3 through Mar. 31 – Mayor’s 90/90 Walk with the Mayor – Wednesdays, Feb 3-Mar. 31, 4-5pm at Waterfront Park, 150 Waterfront Rd. Join the Mayor and a City of Palm Coast Department Director for a brisk walk along Waterfront Park. Please meet by the restroom building by the parking lot. Feb. 5 – Family Valentine’s Dance – Friday, Feb. 5, 6-9pm at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Bring your sweethearts to the Family Valentine’s Dance! This family-friendly event is open to all ages. Eat finger food and dance your socks off to the DJ’s tunes. This dance will be a sweet treat for the entire family! For all ages. Feb. 5 – Book Club: Biography/Autobiography – Friday, Feb. 5, 10:30-11:30am at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Do you love to read? Each month will have a designated genre – February’s is Biography/Autobiography. You select and purchase a book that falls within the monthly category. Feb. 5 and 19 – Mayor’s 90/90 Ruck the Parks – Fridays, Feb. 5 & 19, 9-10am at Waterfront Park, 150 Waterfront Rd. Join Recreation Specialist and Army Veteran Jared for a ruck through Waterfront Park. Never rucked before? It's a military walk with a loaded backpack. All you need is a sturdy backpack, weighted with bricks, sandbags, clean laundry, weight plates, etc. to your comfort level, and some good walking shoes. Feb. 6 – Palm Coast Historical Society Speaker Series: Women’s Right to Vote – Saturday, Feb. 6, 10am at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Flagler County Court Judge Totten discusses women’s rights and their struggle for the right to vote. Judge Totten currently presides at the Kim C. Hammond Justice Center in Bunnell. Feb. 8 and 22 – Teddy Bear Picnic – Mondays, Feb. 8 & 22, 10-11am at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. This is an interactive program where toddlers are invited to bring their favorite teddy bear to playfully-themed outings that include a snack, a story, and a game or craft! Feb. 9 – Bellies & Babies – Tuesday, Feb. 9, 4-5pm at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. A gathering for new mothers and moms-to-be, Bellies and Babies is designed to support women during pregnancy, new motherhood, and breastfeeding. Go from feeling unsure to I got this, all while building friendships in a supportive environment. Feb. 10 through 24 – Imagination Builders (Session 2) – Wednesdays, Feb. 10-24, 10-11am at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. Using Duplo Blocks, Fiddlesticks and other interactive activities, create an imaginary world with your child! Let your child’s imagination be stimulated through patterns, colors, counting, position/ordering, compare/contrast, and fine/gross motor skills. For ages 3-5. Feb. 12 and 26 – Mayor’s 90/90 Run the Parks – Fridays, Feb. 12 & 26, 3-4pm at Waterfront Park, 150 Waterfront Rd. Get out on the trails and run our parks system with Aquatics Supervisor Ally and Staff Assistant Sophia! Make sure to wear athletic clothing, good running shoes, and bring along a bottle of water. Meet us at the bathroom building by the parking lot. Free. Feb. 13 through March 13 – Munchkin Football - Saturdays, Feb. 13-March 13, 9-9:45 a.m. at Holland Park, 18 Florida Park Drive. This child-with-parent (5-week) program teaches toddlers the basic motor skills necessary to play organized sports such as flag football. Wednesdays – Baby Ballet – Wednesdays, 4:30-5:15pm at the Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. A 45-minute introductory dance class containing ballet and creative movement. Young dancers will learn the basic steps while learning how to follow directions and imitate movement in a positive environment. Engaging music is used to get these little ones inspired to dance, and enables the young dancers to use their imagination, creativity and, most of all, have fun! Pinochle is a trick-taking card game typically for two to four players and played with a 48-card deck. Thursdays – Youth Rowing – Thursdays, 3:30-4:15pm at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. The City of Palm Coast and the Palm Coast Rowing Club (PCRC) have teamed up to offer middle and high school students this introductory indoor rowing development and exercise class. Thursdays – Zumba® Kids and Zumba® Kids Jr. – Thursdays, 4-4:45pm at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. These classes are rockin’, high-energy dance parties packed with kid-friendly routines. We break down steps, add games, activities, and cultural exploration. Zumba® helps kids develop a healthy lifestyle and incorporate fitness as a natural part of children’s lives. Classes incorporate key childhood development elements such as leadership, respect, team work, confidence, self-esteem, memory, creativity, coordination, balance, and cultural awareness. Thursdays – Indoor Rowing – Thursdays (classes start Jan. 7), 4:30-5:30pm at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. The Flagler Rowing Club will keep participants energized during this hour-long, interval training class. Thursdays – Adult Open Gym Basketball – Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7-9:30pm at Indian Trails Middle School, 5505 Belle Terre Pkwy., Palm Coast. Play some hoops with your friends or meet new people. Fridays – Zumba® Gold – Fridays (classes start Jan. 15), 9-10am at Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE. This class is perfect for active older adults who are looking for a modified Zumba® class that recreates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity. Saturdays – Junior Golf Clinics – Saturdays, ages 7-11 years at 9-10am and ages 12-16 years at 10-11am at Palm Harbor Golf Club, 20 Palm Harbor Drive. Get out on the course with an instructor to learn the game of golf! Kids will learn basic golf skills in this weekly clinic. Space is limited, so sign up early by calling 386-986-4653 (GOLF).
