Ormond Beach Historical Society Speaker Series

When: 10 a.m.

Where: Virtual

Details: Travel back into the ice age and learn about Florida's first people with David Letasi, paleontologist and archaeologist. Discover how they survived climate change and giant predators, and compare artifacts found in Florida to others found around North America. Free registration. Visit ormondhistory.org

Manatee Watch virtual training

When: 10 a.m. to noon

Where: Virtual

Details: Volusia County is looking for volunteers to participate in Manatee Watch, a program that identifies the presence of manatees in local waterways. Residents who live on the water, spend a lot of time near the water, or are avid voters and encouraged to participate. The program is open to individuals, families, businesses, and civic organizations. Participants should be at least 16 years old. Fresh Works 3: Transitions

When: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays

Where: The Casements, 25 Riverside Dr.

Details: See this exhibition by the Florida Women's Art Association until Feb. 27. A total of 28 artists' work is on display. Additionally, salons where guests may speak to featured artists are scheduled at 2 p.m. on Thursdays. On Feb. 18, Janet Bernardini and Kathleen Pruett will host "Photography Isn't a Linear Thing," and on Feb. 25, Elaine Tillard and L.C. Tobey will host "The Art of Transitions." Pop-up exhibit

When: 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Where: 9 W. Granada Blvd.

Details: This exhibit by Ormond Memorial Art Museum features 56 original oil paintings by Malcolm Fraser. These works are part of the museum's permanent collection and were donated by Fraser in 1946. They serve as a memorial to those who served in World War I and World War II.
