8:39 a.m. — 200 block of Cypress Trail Drive
Burglary. Police responded to a subdivision under construction after several appliances were stolen from a home.
According to the incident report, the building company's superintendent called in the theft and explained that the applianced had been delivered a few days prior and left in the garage because the home was locked. The garage was missing one of the doors due to a mistake, the report states.
The superintendent told police that when he arrived at the home, a cooktop and vent hood had been stolen, valued at $596. A neighbor told the superintendent that he spotted a "lifted black Ford F-350 with a large Trump flag and American flag in the bed" stopped in front of the home the night before. The neighbor said they sped away as soon as they were spotted, and described the truck as "junky," according to the police report.
1:34 a.m. — Intersection of Hand Avenue and Harbour Lights Drive
Loitering or prowling. A 37-year-old Ormond Beach was arrested after he was seen walking in the yard of a residence near a parked vehicle.
The reporting officer signaled the man to stop after he activated the lights on his patrol car. The officer noticed the man had a wooden-handled flat-bladed tool in his hand, similar to a small chisel, and the object was secured. The man had socks on, but no shoes, and the officer asked him what he was doing in the neighborhood. The man replied that he had lost his keys and was out looking for them, and that his car was parked down the street.
The officer pointed out that it was very late in the night, and the man said he drank a lot of coffee and didn't realize what time it was.
The man later changed his story and saiid that his friend had his car, but couldn't provide proof that he'd been in contact with this friend. He was taken to the police department, and once there, made "nonsensical statements and had conversations with people who were not there," the report details.
8:41 a.m. — First block of West Granada Boulevard
Vandalism. The investigation into antisemitic graffiti and decals appearing in various spots in the city continued as more stickers were located on businesses in the downtown district.
According to a police report, the decals were found on windows and signs. A resident who was scraping stickers off herself flagged police down and reported other areas in the nearby park that were vandalized in the same way. Stickers were also located in the area of North Nova Road and Wilmette Avenue.
