10:35 p.m. — Intersection of West Granada Boulevard and I-95
Suspicious incident. A 21-year-old Tallahassee woman called police after her vehicle was rear-ended by a truck, whose 24-year-old driver became flirtatious and offered to drive to her apartment to help her buff out the scratch.
Due to the minor damage caused in the crash, she and the driver exchanged information rather than call police. The woman said to the reporting officer that the driver told her if he ever came to see her in Tallahassee that they should "party," according to the police report. The woman didn't pay him much mind and went home. However, as she spoke with her friend over the phone, her friend told her she had been in a similar crash earlier that night.
The two friends realized they had been rear-ended by the same person. Both women told police they had not been contacted by the driver since the incident and police told them to cease any future contact with him. The women feared the driver may be targeting young women.
2:07 p.m. — 700 block of South Atlantic Avenue
Larceny. A 38-year-old Zellwood man on vacation with his family in Ormond Beach discovered a missing part from his car's muffler area.
The man explained to police that he heard a very loud "race-car" like noise coming from underneath his car, and that he took a look and noticed his catalytic converter was missing. Based on the clean cut of the damage, the man said he believed the part was deliberately removed.
The man wished to pursue charges, as the repairs are estimated to cost around $1,300.
11 p.m. — 400 block of Hollywood Street
Vandalism. A 61-year-old Ormond Beach woman wishes to press charges after a man splattered paint on her driveway.
According to the police report, the woman heard a motorcycle blasting loud music while driving up and down her street, and that the driver stopped on her driveway twice and revved his engine. The woman's neighbor came outside to investigate and yelled at him to go away because her children were asleep.
The man returned on a different motorcycle, and this time was spooked when the woman spotted him, the report stated. She didn't see any painting device on his person, but said the color of the paint on her driveway matches that with which her daughter's car was previously tagged.
Police estimated there to be about $75 worth of damage caused by the paint.
