Aloke Bose uses pandemic downtime to publish his father's tales

Aloke Bose, like many grandfathers, is a story teller. He was born in India, where his father, Sisir Kumar Bose, worked as an engineer for the Indian government. His father was posted all over India during his 35-year career and told many thrilling stories to his son. Aloke passed on those stories to his own children and grandchildren.

Aloke Bose became an engineer in India, like his father. The Boses' daughter, Paromita Tomerlin, moved with her family to Flagler Beach in 2005. Aloke and his wife, Suparna, visited them and appreciated the peaceful lifestyle, fishing from the pier, and the art exhibitions of the area, as well as being able to spend time with their grandchildren, so they decided to retire here.

After Aloke Bose's retirement in 2008, he and his wife have traveled to 72 countries on six continents and had many adventures, adding to Bose's "stockpile of bedtime stories" to tell the grandkids. After more than nine years of traveling the globe, the COVID-19 pandemic has kept the Boses at home for the past several months. Aloke decided to spend the time at home writing down his father's stories. He says it has been so rewarding to "to finally put down on paper the real life stories of my father, particularly having experienced many of the stories during my growing up years." His book is titled "True Tales from India" and can be purchased on Amazon.
