5 p.m. — 800 block of Wilmette Avenue
Larceny. While on a tour of a local apartment complex with a citizen, the apartment manager received a call that from one of the maintenance workers that a golf cart was missing.
According to a police report, the manager had parked the golf cart outside the apartment leasing office earlier in the day, with the keys still in the ignition. She left for lunch and the golf cart was there when she left. The manager couldn't remember if it was still there when she got back, but the citizen whom she took on tour did recall seeing it when she arrived.
The citizen said she believes she saw an older white man with a red shirt and tool box get on the golf cart. The manager told police none of the maintenance workers had a red shirt on that day.
The golf cart, valued at $6,000, was unable to be located.
10:15 a.m. — 300 block of Sanchez Avenue
Vandalism. Police arrived at a local park after they were told a building and some signs were spray painted with anti-Joe Biden slurs.
According to the police report, one of the city employees was instructed to clean the spray paint from the restroom facility but once at the park, encountered much more vandalism than she thought. She was told to contact police, and she told the reporting officer that none of the graffiti was present a couple days prior. The damage was estimated around $750.
Police have no suspect information at this time.
2:47 p.m. — 1400 block of West Granada Boulevard
Suspicious incident. Police responded to a local fast food chain restaurant after receiving a call that, two days earlier, a woman in a blue sedan acted suspiciously toward an employee.
The employee said that the woman cut in front of three other vehicles in the drive-thru line, and that when he walked outside and explained to her "how to use the drive-thru line the correct way," she ignored him, according to the police report. The woman simply put her window up.
The employee told police he spotted two "long bullets" in her hand, and that it looked like she was taking a picture of them. The encounter made him uncomfortable, so he went back inside the restaurant. A short time later, the restaurant received a call from a woman who said the restaurant needed to teach their black employees how to talk to people. She used a derogative term to describe the employee.
The reporting officer advised the restaurant to contact police if the woman returns and they wish to have her trespassed.
