4:08 p.m. — 100 block of South Nova Road
Disorderly conduct. A Daytona Beach man entered a local tag office only to realize he dropped $100 in cash when he got out of his car. He immediately ran back outside to get the money, instructing his passenger to also look for the money. As the pair searched, a 31-year-old Kissimmee woman walked over, picked up the cash and pocketed it, according to police report.
The man's companion yelled that the woman had the money and the pair confronted her. The woman said they couldn't prove the money was his and walked away.
Police found the woman inside a nearby restaurant. She told police that she worked two jobs, had her own money, and other statements the reporting officer noted "were irrelevant to the investigation." The officer asked her how much money she had in cash, and she replied that she didn't feel like she had to tell him.
The man told police he didn't want to pursue charges if the woman gave him his money back. The woman denied having his money, but according to the report, agreed to send the man $100 using Cash App. She was arrested for disorderly conduct and during a search of her belongings, the money was found and returned to the man.
She was released at the scene with a notice to appear in court.
4:01 p.m. — 1400 block of West Granada Boulevard
Information. A 62-year-old Ormond Beach man was involved a motor vehicle crash at a local grocery store parking lot and told the 911 dispatcher that "if he pulled out a gun and shot someone we would get there quicker."
According to the report, police arrived at the scene and asked the man if he was armed due to his statement. He was patted down for weapons — none were found — and told police there was a revolver inside the vehicle. Police located it and ran its serial number in their system. It came up as stolen, but it turned out to be a mistake in the system. Officers received a notice that the stolen gun entry was no longer valid as it had been returned to its owner.
Officers released the man and returned his gun.
9:26 a.m. — 1500 block of West Granada Boulevard
Petit theft. A 68-year-old Daytona Beach man was arrested after he stole 37 items from a local supermarket by skip-scanning at the self-checkout.
The items were worth $116.26 and he only paid for $25.44. He told police that he was on a fixed income and that money was tight. He said it was a "stupid mistake" but that he had come up with the idea on his drive to the supermarket.
Because he had no prior criminal history, he was released with a notice to appear in court. He was also trespassed from the business.
