12:12 p.m. — 1500 block of West Granada Boulevard
Petit theft. A 56-year-old Ormond Beach woman was arrested after she stole body washes, locks, lighters and other items from a local supermarket.
The woman entered the store, grabbed plastic shopping bags from a register and select body washes from the counter. She hid them in the bags, and then went to the toy section and grabbed several "random" items there, according to her arrest report. Before exiting the store, she grabbed several lighters and placed them in her purse. She took a total of $121.75 worth of merchandise.
She was taken to jail.
1:40 p.m. — 1500 block of West Granada Boulevard
Petit theft. Police arrested a 24-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman who stole baby items from a local supermarket by placing them in a stroller and covering them with a blanket.
According to the man's arrest report, while the pair — joined by a third woman whom police didn't identify — walked into the supermarket, a blanket got caught underneath the stroller's wheel and revealed there was no actual baby inside. The man told police that the woman he was with was the one who started taking items and putting them inside the stroller, and that he walked around the store "making sure he lost her," before leaving. He did, however, purchase a drink enhancer before he left.
When police asked him who the woman was, he say she was his "rep payee." The store's loss prevention officer said he saw the man putting things in the stroller, and that he handed items to the woman to hide under the baby blanket. The pair stole $189.43 worth of merchandise, which the store recovered.
The man was taken to jail.
10:08 p.m. — Intersection of West Granada Boulevard and Yoon Way
Attempting to elude law enforcement. A 27-year-old Ormond Beach man led police to his dad's house and asked that his vehicle not be towed after police tried to pull him over for speeding. He had been driving at 63 mph in a 45 mph zone.
When the man drove into a subdivision, police stop sticks at the entrance, but before the officer could finish, the vehicle resurfaced and drove onto the grass to get around the patrol vehicle. The reporting officer recognized the man and drove to his father's home.
Police left his vehicle there and took him to jail.
