6:07 a.m. — 700 block of Orchard Avenue
Suspicious incident. Police officers responded to a local residential street after receiving a call regarding an extension cord running through the road and connecting two homes.
The reporting person told police that he was taking care of one of the homes involved and that in the past, he'd had issues with the tenants at the other home. He unplugged the extension cord, which was coming from the other home. The homeowner did not report any illegal activity, according to the incident report.
6:34 p.m. — 1500 block of West Granada Boulevard
Larceny. A local gas station employee called police shortly after he arrived at work when he saw all the gas handles had been removed from the pumps and laid on the ground, according to a police report. All eight squeegees were also missing from their water buckets, and the carbon dioxide tank in the back was tipped over.
Though there was no damage to the pumps or the tank, the tube that runs from the building to the tank was "ripped apart," the police report states. Police reviewed video surveillance and observed a man enter the property around 1:44 a.m. and remove all the pump handles and squeegees. Police were unable to locate the squeegees, and the employee, on behalf of the gas station, said he wished to press charges.
6:51 p.m. — First block of North Nova Road
Fraud. A local restaurant employee called police to notify an unknown man tried to use a fake $20 bill to pay for $2 in food.
Once she noticed the bill was a counterfeit, she entered her office to call police and by the time she came out, the man had already left. Patrons in the store told her that the man fled on his bike. He left without his food and police were unable to locate him.
The fake bill was taken into evidence.
