Prevention and Treatment of Alzheimer's: What Research is Telling Us

Celebrate Recovery

When: 7-9 p.m.

Where: The Chapel, 1805 U.S. 1

Details: Join this launch of a weekly support group near Destination Daytona. The evening will include worship time, serenity prayer and guidelines, a lesson or testimony, and a time for open share. Refreshments will be served starting at 6:45 p.m.

Completely Unchanged - Van Halen Tribute

When: 7:30 p.m.

Where: Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center, 399 N. U.S. 1

Florida Humanities Speaker Series

When: 9:30-11 a.m.

Where: Anderson-Price Memorial Building, 42 N. Beach St.

Details: Titled, "Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park: Where Legend Meets History,"  this presentation by Dr. Roget Smith will dive into the historical quandary and treasures at the Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park in St. Augustine. Free admission.

Dogapalooza

When: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Where: Ormond Memorial Art Museum, 78 E. Granada Blvd.

Details: Attend this year's local canine convention at the museum, presented by AdventHealth Hospice Care. Meet Sir Archer Fuzzy Butt, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi who is the face of this year's event. You will also have a chance to nominate your own four-legged pal to be the face of next year's event, as well as enter them into a costume contest. Enjoy food trucks and vendors. Proceeds will benefit the Great Dawg Rescue of Ormond Beach and the Halifax Humane Society. $2 donation and donation for a pet food drive for Sophie's Circle requested. Call 676-3347.

Ormond Beach Community Gardens open house

When: Noon to 2 p.m.

Where: Gardens at 601 Fleming Ave. and 601 Hammock Lane

Moonlighter's Concert

When: 2 p.m.

Where: Prince of Peace Catholic Church social hall, 600 S. Nova Road

Details: Hosted by the Prince of Peace Council of Catholic Women. Enjoy big band American Standard Music from Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Sinatra and Michael Bublé. $10 ticket donation will aid to support various charities.

Willie Cintron and the Sounds of the Seasons

When: 2:30 p.m.

Where: Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center, 399 N. U.S. 1

Civil Discourse

When: 5:30 p.m.

Where: Ormond Beach Regional Public Library, 30 S. Beach St. 

Details: The topic for this meeting is, "What do the citizens of Ormond Beach want for our community in the coming year?" Gospel music workshops

When: 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30; and 7-10 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31

Where: Historic New Bethel A.M.E Church, 115 S. Yonge St.

Details: Attend a two-day workshop with Grammy award-winning artist and preacher Brent Jones, who is known for songs like “Open Your Mouth and Say Something,” “He Rose” and “Don’t Wait Till Midnight." A concert at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center, located at 399 N. U.S. 1, will follow the workshops at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb 1.
