Kenneth Joseph Lane
1927-2020
Kenneth Joseph Lane, 92, of Palm Coast, Florida, passed away after a long illness, on March 21, 2020 at Advent Health Hospice Care Center in Palm Coast, Florida.
For his service in the Pacific as air crew aboard the carrier USS Saratoga, he was awarded both the WWII Victory and American Theatre Medal.
He was born on August 29, 1927 in Cambridge, Massachusetts to the late Edward Leo and Katherine Donahue Lane. Ken was a graduate of Boston College High School and later earned a degree in Art History from the University of NH School for Life Long Learning. He proudly served his country in WWII and was honorably discharged with a rating of Seaman First Class. For his service in the Pacific as air crew aboard the carrier USS Saratoga, he was awarded both the WWII Victory and American Theatre Medal. After Ken retired as General Manager of the Boston branch of The Dannon Company, Ken developed his interest in art, music and theatre. He performed in several plays in NH and Maine and taught drama in the Palm Coast Adult Education Program after moving with his wife Ami to Florida in 2002. Ken and Ami traveled the world. He was a hospice volunteer, a member of The Knights of Columbus #253 and of the Friends of the Flagler Public Library. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Ami Paulette Lane; sons; Thomas, Kevin, Edward, Christopher, Paul, and Jeffrey and Ami’s daughter, Shelli Beth Truett, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and three beloved sisters who live in New England. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eileen, and sons Larry, Richard and Kenneth Lane, Jr., two brothers and one sister. Also left to mourn him are many, many friends and four family pets, three cats and his faithful Corgi, Lady. He remained a devoted Red Sox and Patriots fan throughout his life. At the discretion of the family, a military graveside service will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, Florida.
