Friday, Sept. 6

'Mary Poppins Returns'

When: 8-10 p.m.

Where: Rockefeller Gardens, 26 Riverside Drive

Details: Catch this month's Movie on the Halifax, presented by the city's Leisure Services Department. Movie is rated PG. Free admission. Refreshments available for purchase. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Call 676-3216.

Saturday, Sept. 7

Ormond Beach Historical Loop Bus Tour

When: 9:45 a.m.

Where: The Casements, 25 Riverside Drive

Details: See much of the history and scenery of Ormond Beach via the Ormond Beach Historical Society’s bus tour. Beginning at The Casements, the tour includes the Loop, the Three Chimneys Sugar Mill Ruins and a visit to see the Fairchild Oak. Tickets must be purchased in advance at the MacDonald House, located at 38 E. Granada Blvd. Tickets cost $22 for adults, $20 for Historical Society members and $7 for ages 5-12. Tour takes about two hours. Call 677-7005.

Sunday, Sept.  8

Pancake breakfast

When: 8 a.m. to noon

Where: Social Hall at St. Brendan Catholic Church, 1000 Ocean Shore Blvd.

Details: The Father Eamonn Gill Council 13018 Knights of Columbus pancake breakfast includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, scrambled eggs, a sausage link, orange juice and coffee. Costs $5. Children under 12 eat free. Open to the public.

Monday, Sept. 9

Civil Discourse

When: 5:30-6:45 p.m.

Where: Ormond Beach Regional Library auditorium, 30 S. Beach St.

Details: Civil Discourse, a group focused on the respectful exchange of ideas, will hold a roundtable with Dr. Don Spence, professional board-certified master arborist and environmental consultant. The focus of the discussion will be on the use of trees and native plants in urban planning and resiliency. The public is invited to listen and ask questions.

Tuesday, Sept. 10

Osteoporosis Education Program

When: 4 p.m.

Where: Ormond Beach Library, 30 S. Beach St.

Details: The National Osteoporosis Foundation Education and Support Group of Ormond Beach will be presenting an education program about Osteoporosis, titled "Healthy Bones and Medication Information" by Pharmacist Kalpesh Patel. Call Barr & Associates Physical Therapy at 386-673-3535.

Wednesday, Sept. 11

Dance lessons

When: 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Where: Ormond Senior Center, 351 Andrews St.

Details: On Wednesdays, the Council on Aging offers dance lessons provided by "Dance With Me" instructors Tom and Jo Sanders. Costs $2. Participants are welcome to stay afterward for a dance gala and social, from 2 to 4 p.m. featuring live big band music by The Blue Notes. Call 672-4159.

Citizens for Ormond Beach speaker series

When: 5:30-6:45 p.m.

Where: Ormond Beach Regional Library auditorium, 30 S. Beach St.

Details: Citizens for Ormond Beach invite the public to attend its second speaker series with Rep. Tom Leek, who will provide a post-legislative update and what’s ahead for 2020. Call 770-883-1653.

Halifax Genealogical Society

When: 1:30 p.m.

Where: Ormond Beach Regional Library auditorium, 30 S. Beach St.

Details: Learn how to date and/or identify photos in your collection. Bring family photos you would like identified or dated. Visitors welcome. Call 672-3806.

Paint to end Alzheimer's

When: 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Where: Fletcher's Irish Pub, 393 W. Granada Blvd.

Details: Join the Alzheimer's Association in raising money for Walk to End Alzheimer's. Create an abstract flower painting while enjoying drinks, food and games. Supplies provided by Lauren's Art Club. Tickets cost $25, $10 of which will go to the fundraiser. Contact Holly Vincent at 677-2700. Tickets must be purchased in advance.
