1:11 p.m. — 100 block of North Yonge Street
Information. An officer advised a man and woman to part ways for the night after he was called to investigate a disturbance. The officer spoke with the man involved first, who told him he and the woman got into an argument because she didn't want to go on a ride with him in a bike trailer he built.
The man told the officer he got upset and threw his cell phone on the ground, breaking it. He also threw a cup of juice at the front door, and then promptly tripped over his bike trailer. He got a scratch on his hand and one on his back.
The woman corroborated the man's story. He gathered his things and left.
4:32 p.m. — 100 block of South Nova Road
Driving without a license. A 42-year-old man was arrested after he stole bananas from a local grocery store and attempted to flee the scene in a sedan despite having a revoked license since 2016.
Police report they were able to catch up to man and that he immediately admitted to stealing bananas. The grocer refused to press charges, but wanted police to issue the man a trespass warning. The man told police he drove to the grocery store from his home and stole some bananas because he couldn't pay for all of them.
The bananas were returned to the store and the man's vehicle picked up by his father. Police took the man to jail.
7:26 a.m. — First block of Pebble Beach Drive
Vandalism. An Ormond Beach man woke up to see his car had been decorated with broken eggs, Italian dressing and a whole rotisserie chicken, the latter which was placed on the driver side front wheel.
He told police he suspected his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend committed the offense after she broke up with him to be with the Ormond Beach man. Police asked the girlfriend to call her ex, who denied any involvement. He just talked about how she cheated on him while they were together, police report.
Police later called the ex, who again, said he didn't do it. Surveillance footage obtained later didn't show the ex's car in the area either, so police determined all investigative leads have been exhausted at this point.
