AARP Foundation seeks volunteers

The AARP Foundation is looking to recruit people interested in becoming part of its Tax-Aide program volunteer team for tax season.

The program offers free tax filing help for those who need it most, especially those 50 and older. Volunteers receive training and continued support, and can perform a variety of roles at different levels of experience. Volunteer tax preparers complete tax preparation training and IRS certification prior to working with taxpayers. The foundation is also in need of grassroots leadership, on-site greeters, technical assistance and language interpreters.

The program now involves nearly 35,000 volunteers and serves 2.7 million taxpayers annually at more than 5,000 sites nationwide, according to a press release. The program is offered at about 300 sites in Florida, and the local Tax-Aide has six site locations in Ormond Beach, Daytona Beach, Holly Hill, South Daytona and Port Orange.
