Friday, Oct.  4

Walking with the manager

When: 8 a.m.

Where: Fire Station 91, 364 S. Atlantic Ave.

Details: Join City Manager Joyce Shanahan for this walk. The guest walker will be Fire Chief Richard Sievers. Meet at the entrance to the fire station. Come ask questions, share comments and offer suggestions. 

'The House with a Clock in its Walls'

When: 7:30 p.m.

Where: Rockefeller Gardens, 26 Riverside Drive

Details: Catch this month's Movie on the Halifax, presented by the city's Leisure Services Department. This event will also feature a trunk or treat, sponsored by Realty Pros Assured. Movie is rated PG. Free admission. Refreshments available for purchase. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Call 676-3216.

Saturday, Oct. 5

Tomoka Fest

When: 10:30 am. to 2:30 p.m.

Where: Tomoka State Park, 2099 N. Beach St.

Details: Attend the seventh-annual Tomoka Fest to learn about the history of the state park and reconnect with nature. The event features craft demos, exhibitors, vendors, animal ambassadors, guided nature hikes, kids activities, food and music. Admission is included with park entrance fee; $4 for single visitor and $5 for a car of 2-8 people.

Bear Creek annual craft fair

When: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: Bear Creek Community, 5 Brown Bear Path

Details: Enjoy over 30 arts and crafts vendors, raffles, baked goods, food and drink. Proceeds will go toward AdventHealth Hospice and Pet Peace of Mind.

The Baron's Ball of Ormond Beach

When: 6-11 p.m.

Where: Anderson-Price Memorial Building, 42 N. Beach St.

Details: This elegant event celebrates the 1900-1920 era of Ormond Beach. The evening begins with a champagne reception, followed by the grand event at 7 p.m. There will be a themed dinner by a chef, two cash bars, music and dancing. Attire is turn-of-the-century 1900s to 1920s, or 21st century cocktail wear. The event is hosted by the Historic Impressionists of Florida. Tickets are $60 per person or $100 per couple. Sunday, Oct. 6

Bruce Rossmeyer Ride for Children

When: 10 a.m.

Where: Destination Daytona

Details: Join this 25th-anniversary ride benefitting Camp Boggy Creek, a camp where children with serious illnesses are provided with an opportunity to attend a week-long camp at no cost. Over the last 24 years, the Bruce Rossmeyer Ride for Children has raised over $5 million for the camp. Rider check-in begins at 7 a.m. Lunch to follow ride. Wednesday, Oct. 9

Learn how to propagate plants

When: 10 a.m.

Where: Ormond Beach Regional Library, 30 S. Beach St.

Details: Master Gardener Linda Landrum will explain how to grow new plants for your landscape. She will discuss several techniques, including cuttings, division and air layering. Free program. Call 676-4191, option 4.

Dance lessons

When: 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Where: Ormond Senior Center, 351 Andrews St.

Details: On Wednesdays, the Council on Aging offers dance lessons provided by "Dance With Me" instructors Tom and Jo Sanders. Costs $2. Participants are welcome to stay afterward for a dance gala and social, from 2 to 4 p.m. featuring live big band music by The Blue Notes. Call 672-4159.

Thursday, Oct. 10

Octoberfest at Prince of Peace

When: 5-10 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10; 6 p.m. to midnight on Friday, Oct. 11; noon to midnight on Saturday, Oct. 12; noon to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13

Where: Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 600 South Nova Road

Details: The 51st-annual Octoberfest parish festival will feature music, carnival food, Magic Midways with 15 adult rides, including a Ferris wheel, six kiddie rides and a merry-go-round. Parking costs $3 per vehicle. Wristbands cost $20, except for on Thursday, where it will cost $15, but may only be purchased online or at the church.
