Palm Coast Community Child Center, known as PC4 (part of Palm Coast Community Church is PC3), celebrated its voluntary pre-kindergarten graduation recently. Over 400 people attended the superhero-themed end-of-year celebration where VPK graduates received a cape and mask instead of the traditional cap and gown.
In October 2017, the Palm Coast Observer wrote a story about Charlie, an African Grey bird at Baiata Bird Sanctuary in Palm Coast that underwent countless seizures and surgeries. While Charlie is now doing well, volunteer Trudy Tappan said, he and the other birds of the sanctuary will need help from the community to find a new home.
The nursery, where the bird sanctuary is located, will change hands early in 2020, Tappan said.
“We need to find a place to build a new building for our birds,” she said in an email. “We have the finds to build, thanks to a generous donor. We just need land.”
The sanctuary hopes to have a long-term lease on a piece of land about 4,000 square feet in Palm Coast or Bunnell. Call 437-2045 or visit the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/PalmCoastBirds.org/.
Palm Coast United Methodist Church members took a trip to Greece to see many remarkable religious routes, including the one Apostle Paul followed, according to Acts Chapters 15-18.
A group from Palm Coast and St. Luke-Orlando UMC of the Florida Annual Conference attended this pilgrimage. Clergy Leaders are: Dr. Bill Barnes, Rev. Teresa Waters and Dr. Kevin James Sr.
“We left from Orlando filled with excitement and returned spiritually full and richly blessed,” group writer Dr. Awilda Hamilton said in a press release.
There are several new programs for children in June and July that are either free or a small daily fee for court time, with the city of Palm Coast.
During the entire month of June, the A’s and Aces program allows children of grade school age to bring in their year-end report card to the Palm Coast Tennis Center, located at 1290 Belle Terre Parkway, and receive one free play pass for each ‘A’ earned. Court space must be available. To check court availability or reserve space, call 986-2550, starting three days in advance.
Also new to the lineup is “Learn 2 Play,” which is free kids tennis lessons offered each Saturday in July at Holland Park, located at 18 Florida Park Dr. On July 6, 13, 20 and 27, children 7-10 years old can play from 9-10 a.m. Children 11 and older can play from 10-11 a.m. This activity is part of the ‘July is Park and Rec Month’ celebration and players can show support by getting their “Game On!” at the tennis courts.
