8:26 p.m. — 100 block of South Nova Road
Information. A restauranteur received a disturbing phone call on the business' landline stating that, if she didn't apologize to a former employee and her mother that night, they would be at her job on Monday morning to report she was part of a credit card fraud, police report. The unknown caller said that they would also beat her and "kill her if they had to," before disconnecting.
The restauranteur told police that the named persons in the phone call confronted her at the restaurant because she had accused the former employee of trying to seduce her husband. The restauranteur said the former employee had given her husband a "seductive and inappropriate" music CD and asked him to play it. This incident occurred in March, according to the police report, but the employee's mother recently found out about it and interpreted it as harassment of her daughter.
Police contacted the former employee and her mother, who both denied making the call. They were advised to cease contact with the restaurant owners.
11:17 a.m. — 300 block of South Atlantic Avenue
Larceny. A former waiter at a local restaurant was discovered to have stolen over $600 from the business since July 26, police report. The waiter admitted to police that he would delete food items from bills paid in cash by customers. The police report notes an example that, if a customer ordered a burger and a drink, they would pay the full bill, but afterwards, the waiter would go back and delete the burger from the bill and pocket the extra money.
The restaurant owner said the waiter was using a manager's code to delete the items from customers' bills. The waiter was terminated and issued a trespass warning. The owner told police he wished to pursue charges.
3:10 p.m. — 1500 block of West Granada Boulevard
Petit theft. A 27-year-old Pierson man was arrested for drinking a chocolate milk inside a local supermarket without paying for it, amounting to a $3.24 loss in revenue for the store.
The man selected the chocolate milk from the dairy cooler and drank it while on the sales floor before placing it back in his shopping cart, according to the police report. He then abandoned the cart and left the store. When confronted with police, he said he wasn't trying to steal the milk, but that he was going out to his friend's truck to get his EBT card.
Police report the man had several prior petit theft and grand theft charges, as well as three convictions. He was taken to jail.
