Conceal and steal

11:14 p.m. — 1500 block of West Granada Boulevard

Petit theft. A 41-year-old Ormond Beach man was arrested at a local grocery store on both drug and theft charges after he was caught removing items including an electric shaver and toothbrush from their packaging and hiding them in his pants. The store's loss prevention officer observed the man check out other items at a register, but not the ones he had concealed.

When confronted by a police officer, the man began to take out items from his pants and said: "I'm sorry, guys. I'll pay for this stuff." As he appeared nervous and anxious, the officer placed him in handcuffs. The officer then retrieved the electric shaver from his underwear and dental items from his right leg, police report.

Police found two and a half prescription pills in his wallet, later identified as alprazolam. He also had $120 in his wallet.

Social experiment

2:39 p.m. — Rockefeller Drive beach approach

Suspicious incident. Police suspect their law enforcement response was studied by two individuals after officers responded to a call on the beach regarding a white male in his twenties wearing all black clothing and black gloves and carrying a gun. When they arrived to the scene, police officers spotted a 33-year-old man in his vehicle who appeared "to be heavily observing the law enforcement activity in the area."

At that moment, the reporting person, a 19-year-old white man, approached the vehicle but was stopped from entering it by police. Police reported that there was a black leather jacket and gloves in plain view on the passenger side of the car. When asked more about the suspicious suspect, "it was almost as if he was describing himself," police reported, down to the suspect's hair color and the chain around his neck.

The 19-year-old man described the weapon as a "Glock" based on his experience playing video games. Due to the heavy rainfall, police noted in their report all parties, officers and residents alike, became drenched during the investigation.

At one point, the 33-year-old man became upset with officers because they made him exit his vehicle, but he calmed down once an officer explained the reason why "as if he understood." Both men were free to go in the end.

Possession of cocaine. A 28-year-old woman was arrested after police found cocaine in her vehicle, which she claimed was her fiancé's, who is the registered owner of the vehicle. However, police reported that there was nothing "belonging to a man" inside the vehicle since many of the items, including parts of the interior, were bedazzled with sparkles.

An officer first approached the woman after they saw her unconscious behind the wheel in the drive-thru of a local bank. Her license is revoked.
