Dennis Burns, the president and CEO of the United Way of Volusia and Flagler Counties, announced that UWVFC has distributed more than $215,000 in aid to area nonprofits and community members since Hurricane Irma made landfall in September.
Most recently, UWVFC approved a $107,600 allocation of funds to the recovery efforts of Flagler and Volusia nonprofits to end 2017. Money was donated by the Lilly Foundation, Parks Dermatology and SunTrust Bank.
The money served about 10,655 total people for both counties.
The Palm Coast Yacht Club presented a check for $2,325 to the local chapter of Disabled American Veterans on Monday, Jan. 8, according to a news release.
The money was raised during the Jingle Bell Bowl bowling tournament on Dec. 3. Twenty-two teams participated, which included all members of service organizations, businesses and social groups in the area. The event was held at Palm Coast Lanes.
Granny Nannies, Doctors Choice, Miss Flagler County and The Westsider’s 4-H Club organized holiday caroling at several nursing homes on Dec. 22, according to a news release.
Carolers sang at Grand Oaks Health and Rehab, located at 3001 Palm Coast Parkway, and Flagler Health and Rehab, located at 300 Dr. Carter Blvd.
Florida Hospital Flagler named Lauretta Kiniery its director of surgical services, according to a news release. Kiniery will be responsible for overseeing the surgical services department, including the inpatient and outpatient surgical and gastroenterology services as well as outpatient infusion therapies.
FHF named Wally De Aquino as its new chief operating office and Kathy Gover as its chief nursing officer, according to a news release. In 2014, De Aquino became the senior director of operations for the Florida Hospital Central Division’s South Region. Gover started her career at Florida Hospital in 1987 as a graduate nurse.
Bud Ore, the president of Bud’s Pest Control Inc., announced the addition of his son, Joshua Ore, to the family business, according to a news release. Joshua, who graduated for the University of Florida with a bachelor of science in entomology and nematology with an urban pest management specialization, will serve as a technician.
Richard DeCeglie of Watson Realty Corp., sold most of the Palm Coast residential saltwater canal listings in 2017, according to a news release. DeCeglie closed 23 of his listings at an average of 60 days. He closed 11 saltwater canal listings in 2017.
The Flagler Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bunnell was honored by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living for its achievements in the Quality Initiative Recognition Program, according to a news release. The center met or exceeded six of the eight goals.
