Grammy-nominated blues pianist starting tour in Daytona

Following his 2019 Grammy Awards "Best Contemporary Blues Album" nomination, blues pianist Victor Wainwright is beginning his three-month tour with two shows in Daytona Beach.

According to a press release, Wainwright, who was born in Savannah, Georgia, was compelled into a life of music thanks to his father's vocals and grandfather piano skills. By 2005, he had his solo debut, "Piana' From Savannah." This year, in addition to his Grammy nomination, Wainwright won the Pinetop Perkins Piano Player Award at the 2018 Blues Music Awards in Memphis in May.

Wainwright will be performing on at The Bank and Blues, located at 701 Main St., at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, and at 5 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 30. Tickets on Saturday start at $28; on Sunday, they start at $23. Call 252-987 or visit https://daytonabeachmainstreet.com/venue/the-bank-blues-club/
