48th-Annual Octoberfest Parish Festival
From Oct. 6 to Oct. 9 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 600 S. Nova Road. This year’s Octoberfest will feature approximately 22 rides and 15 games, in addition to numerous food and beverage outlets and entertainment in the “Munich Room” tent on the Midway. The event has been held annually since 1969. Admission is free, and parking is available on the church grounds for $3 per vehicle, except $5 per vehicle after 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Entertainment this year is as follows:
Prince of Peace is teaming up again this year with Walgreens Corner Box Office to offer two unlimited ride wristbands: one for use on Thursday or Sunday only for $15, and one good any one day (Thursday through Sunday) for $22. Walgreens will also sell 40 half-price ride tickets for $22.Wristbands and tickets can be purchased at all area Walgreens stores beginning Sept. 16. Wristbands will be sold on the Midway throughout the event for $25 on Thursday and Sunday, and $30 on Friday and Saturday. Ride tickets purchased on the Midway will be $1 each. There will be continuous games of Split-the-Pot Bingo on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Capsule Wardrobe Fashion Show to Benefit Avenues 12
2 to 4 p.m. at La’s Bistro, 409 S. Nova Road. Participants will learn how to create a “capsule” wardrobe using 10 affordable and versatile items. All proceeds will benefit Avenues 12 Women’s Recovery Houses. Fashions will be provided by Miss Priss, the Ormond Beach consignment shop. Tickets are $25 and include appetizers, choice of limited beverage, dessert, and a raffle ticket. Boy Scout Troop 468 Spaghetti Dinner
4 to 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 336 Halifax Drive. Adults cost $7, and kids cost $4.
Rickman Acree Corporon Piano Trio

Health Fair
10 a.m. 2 p.m. at the Ormond Beach Regional Library. Health care organizations will include Tobacco Free Florida, Florida KidCare, National Osteoporosis Foundation, Heart of Volusia, Easter Seals, Halifax Hospice, the Center for the Visually Impaired, and the Braille and Talking Books Library. Bladder Health
10 a.m. at the Ormond Beach Regional Library. Nurse practitioner Tabitha Oravetz will discuss overactive bladder and incontinence and describe the symptoms that warrant immediate evaluation by a health care provider.
White House Photographer Speaks at MOAS Guild
10 a.m. at the Museum of Arts and Sciences, 352 S. Nova Road, Daytona Beach. Larry Downing, retired news photographer and resident of Ormond Beach, will speak of his 38 years with the White House Press Corps from President Jimmy Carter to President Barack Obama. Tips on preparing for orthopedic surgery

Halifax Humane Society’s Ruff Ride for the Animals
Registration from 3 to 5 p.m. at HHS, 2364 W. LPGA Blvd. Riders must be checked in by 5 p.m. and arrive at The Iron Horse by 8 p.m. to be included in the poker tournament. The annual ride will kick off Daytona Beach’s Biketoberfest. The poker run will include stops at South Turn, Giuseppe's Steel City Pizza, and First Turn, and conclude at Iron Horse where riders can enjoy one drink, a barbeque dinner plate, and live entertainment. Infant CPR Class
7 p.m. at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, Medical Office Building, Classroom B, 305 Memorial Medical Parkway, Daytona Beach. This demonstration class teaches vital information in preparation for an infant’s life-threatening emergency, such as a choking baby or a near drowning. All instructors are certified by the American Heart Association in Basic Cardiac Life Support. Cost is $10 per couple. Scholarships are available and registration is required. Call 231-3152.
