Ormond library plans summer programs for kids

The free programs run from June 13 through July 27.

This summer children and teens can chill at the Ormond Beach Regional Library through one of there many free summer programs. The programs run from June 13 through July 27 unless otherwise indicated.

Preschool programs: 

Mother Goose Baby Storytime 

10 and 11 a.m. on Wednesdays. Babies up to 24 months and their caregivers can enjoy puppets, rhymes, songs and rhythm.

Toddler Storytime

10 a.m. on Tuesdays and 9:30 a.m. on Thursdays. Two-year-olds can listen to stories and take part in rhymes and songs.

Jumping beans Preschool Fitness

10:30 a.m. on Thursdays. Children ages 3 to 6 can dance, march, shake, stretch, wiggle, clap and move. Props include bean bags, parachutes and scarves.

Preschool Storytime 

11 a.m. on Thursdays. Children ages 3 to 6 can listen to stories and nursery rhymes, watch puppet shows and make crafts.

Children programs: 

Fun and Fit Kids

10:30 a.m. on Mondays. This fitness class for children entering first- through third-grades features music and movement, parachute play, rhythm instruments, kid yoga, and an obstacle course.

Quilting For Kids 

12:30 p.m. on Fridays from June 17 through Aug. 12. Children must be at least 9 years old by Aug. 15 and must commit to attending each class. Registration is required. Call 676-4191, Ext. 21091 before June 17.

Family Fun Programs 

Wednesday afternoons. Activities and events will include hula hoops, games, a magic show, balloon show, safety day, a visit from Jiggleman and a trip to the Central Florida Zoo. Call 676-4191, Ext. 21091, for times and dates.

Crafty Kids 

2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. This program is for all ages, but younger children must be accompanied by someone who can assist them.

Lego Days

2:30 p.m. Thursdays, June 16 and July 3. Games and activities are aimed at children in kindergarten through fifth grade, but younger children may attend with an adult to supervise them.

Programs for middle and high school students:

Tae Kwon Do 

2 p.m. on Mondays. These classes are designed for kids entering grades six through eight. Registration is required. Call 676-4191, Ext. 21091.

Teen Crafternoon

3:30 p.m. on Monday, July 11. Kids entering grades six through eight can make crafts during this one-day program.

Adventures of Merlin

2:30 p.m. on Fridays. Kids in grades six through 12 can watch the BBC series.
