At the Prince of Peace’s 47th-annual Oktoberfest, one Ormond Beach 3 year old bravely a boarded the Magic Dragon roller coaster — and immediately regretted it.

Dragging her older cousin, Isabelle Pappa, by the arm, Eliana Pappa, 3, fearlessly climbs up the steps to the entrance of the Magic Dragon. Complete with sharp turns and high speeds, this children’s roller coaster seems to emit the most screams from it’s passengers when it rolls down it’s only 5-foot drop. Isabelle Pappa and Eliana Pappa squeeze into third seat from the back and await take off.

Immediately after the coaster thrusts forward, Eliana Pappa buries her head into her cousin’s shoulder, making sure she can see none of the thrills coming next. After five or six laps, the ride comes to an end and the girls quickly hop off.

“Did you have a good time?” her father asks after greeting Eliana Pappa outside the ride. She shakes her head with an affirmative “No.”

“When she first saw it, she said no because she thinks dragons are scary,” Isabelle Pappa said of the toddler’s experience. “Then she saw how much fun other kids were having and wanted to do it.”

Though Eliana Pappa might still be scared of dragons, she serves as a reminder that it’s not necessarily about getting over fear, but facing it.
