Two Ormond Beach artists are 'painting the town red' in preparation for the upcoming Granada Grand Festival of the Arts.
Ormond Beach is coming to life thanks to two local artists.
Kristin Heron and Lucia Fanning are turning two old buildings into works of art for the first annual Granada Grand Festival of the Arts. Heron is using the vancant gas station on Ridgewood Avenue as her personal canvas while Fanning is converting the former parole building into abstract art.
Hosted by Ormond Beach MainStreet Inc. and the Ormond Arts District, the free festival will highlight the area’s rich accomplishments by showcasing visual artists, musical acts and spoken word performers. The street will come alive with paintings, public art displays, music, food and even live cake decorating. On the main stage, local bands will square off for supremacy during a Battle of the Bands contest and the Kids Zone will be art-centered, with craft projects and a bounce house.
The festival will start at 5 p.m. Sept. 26 and run from West Granada Boulevard into the downtown Ormond Beach Arts District.
