Fletcher wins county spelling bee

Savannah Fletcher out-spelled the competition Tuesday night earning the title of Flagler County Spelling Bee champion. Fletcher, a fifth-grade student at Old Kings Elementary School, will represent the school district at the Regional Spelling Bee, sponsored by the Florida Times Union Feb. 15, at the Jacksonville Public Library.

All contestants were winners in their individual school’s spelling bees earlier this year. They are as follows: fifth grade: Scott Abrams, Phoenix Academy; Nicholas Arkin, Wadsworth Elementary School; Sarah Flannery, Belle Terre Elementary School; Polina Sokolova, Bunnell Elementary School; and Donovyn Vann, Rymfire Elementary School; Sixth grade: David Behulak, Bunnell; Simon Coolican, Old Kings; Joshua Hyde, Wadsworth; Kelly Steffens, Belle Terre; Alex Sylvester, Imagine School Town Center; and Horace Wayne Taylor, Rymfire; Seventh grade: Ashley Luo, Indian Trails Middle School, and Daniella Sbordone, Buddy Taylor Middle School; and eighth grade: Heather Ann Irons, Buddy Taylor; Alexander Feldman, Indian Trails; and Saige Brey, Imagine.
