The Joint Commission, the nation’s oldest healthcare-accrediting organization, has granted Florida Hospital Flagler its “Gold Seal of Approval, Disease-Specific Care Certification” in total hip and total knee replacement surgery, designating the hospital an “Orthopedic Center of Excellence,” according to a press release from the hospital.

The Joint Commission’s Disease-Specific Care Certification Program was created in 2002 to evaluate clinical programs. The Joint Commission performed an on-site survey of Florida Hospital Flagler in December to evaluate the hospital’s orthopedic services for standards of care in infection-prevention and control, leadership, education management and standards of care specific to patients’’ and families’ needs.
