Players for the Seabreeze Sandcrabs baseball team recently got an updated look courtesy of former pitcher Brian Kelley.

Member of the country duo Florida Georgia Line, Kelley decided to give back to Seabreeze High School and told coach Anthony Campanella to order whatever the team needed. He had it covered.

“He was just very generous in what he wanted to do to help out the baseball program,” Campanella said. “A lot of these kids are from Ormond Beach, and he’s from here.”

With Kelley’s help, Campanella said they were able to order new jerseys, new hats and new cleats for the team. The coach said he wasn’t surprised at all when Kelley offered to donate.

“People don’t realize how great of a baseball player he was when he was here,” Campanella said. “One of his great accomplishments here was him throwing a no-hitter for us in a big district game that we played against North Marion High School. Brian was definitely a major part of our baseball program.”

He was also motivated, Campanella said, and he led and entertained the team during his high school baseball career.

“He was the leader of our team for many years, and a lot of the kids fed off that,” Campanella said. “It made my job a lot easier. He’d motivate them. We’re just so happy where he’s at now.“

And the Sandcrab players are grateful.

“I think that it’s awesome,” Mason James, 18, said.  “It is really generous of him to donate us new uniforms this year. We all appreciate it. I'd just like to thank him."
