Before they held their final meeting in February, the Ormond Beach Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association donated over $2,000 to the police department.

Though the Ormond Beach Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association is now gone, it is not forgotten.

Before they held their final meeting in February 2014, the association used the remaining funds in their bank to donate to the following police department needs:

  • $400 towards equipment funds
  • $782.92 to the Ormond Beach Police Explorers Post 430
  • $972 towards the department’s K-9 Fundraiser

During their time as an organization, its members volunteered at the police department, supported a scholarship programs for officers, donated two Tasers, three bicycle and head gear sets, gave $500 to the 2013 Police Utility Tour and gave money to the Police Athletic League.

President Romana Colby said OBCPAAA said the organization ended due to a lack of new members.

“Thank you for your support of the Ormond Beach Police Department,” Colby said. “ I would like to extend my personal appreciation and gratitude to all businesses and to our community for their support and contributions which helped to further the goals and mission of the Ormond Beach Police Department.”
