Rent low, sell high

2:52 p.m. — 100 Block of South Nova Road.Theft. The rental store owner told police that two suspects rented several items and stopped making payments about three months ago. When he called about the payments, the suspects hung up on him.

A neighbor told the shop owner that the suspects had pawned the items, so the owner went to the pawn shop and found his merchandise. He said that when renters are no longer able to afford property, they can return it and not be liable for past-due payments. The following items were recovered: 40-watt sound bar, $149; Dell laptop, $599.99; Funai LCD TV, $299.99; and a Sony Playstation 3, $749.99.

Things to pack: clothes, toiletries, a juvenile

6:25 p.m. — 5000 Block of St. Georges Road. Missing Person. Officers arrived at the residence in search of a missing juvenile but were told by the woman who answered the door that she was sick and tired of police coming to her residence looking for the juvenile and would not submit to a search. She added that someone had been harassing her and making false accusations.

Back in his patrol car, the officer received a tip that the resident was going to try to sneak the juvenile out of the apartment in a suitcase. The officer then walked to the parking lot and saw the resident standing by her car with a suitcase.

The resident admitted the juvenile was in a suitcase in a bedroom closet and the juvenile got out and admitted that she got into it on her own and was only in it for a few minutes.

The juvenile was picked up by Community Partnership for Children to be taken back to foster care.

The story sounded fishy

8:03 p.m. — 300 Block of Bostrom Lane. Theft. The girlfriend of the victim told police that her daughter had pawned several of the victim’s fishing poles. She said the daughter was home when she left for work but was gone when she returned. Also gone were the rods and reels, so she sent a text to the suspect.

The suspect said she was sorry and would get the poles back the next morning. She also received a call from a witness who said the suspect pawned the rods and reels. The victim said he wanted to press charges. The police took photos of the text messages and placed them into evidence.

Sept. 1

Sons of Anarchy, the formative years

11:28 a.m. — 700 Block of South Nova Road. Assault and Battery. The victim stated he was painting a sidewalk and had blocked off the north and south entrances to keep people from walking over it. While painting, however, two males drove their bicycles right over the paint.

The victim then pointed his paintbrush to a sign that read: “No Skateboarding, Rollerblading, Bicycles,” and one male responded, “I’ll ram that stick up your (heiny)!”

The suspects left after the victim threatened to call the cops, but one came back later, drove his bike on the painted sidewalk again and said, “I’ll go get my brother’s shotgun and kill you."

About $20 worth of damage was done to the sidewalk, according to the victim.
