Mardy Gilyard, the former fourth-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, has been signed to the Montreal Alouettes' practice squad, according to the team’s website.

As of Oct. 2, teams in the Canadian Football League are permitted to add five additional players to their respective practice rosters for the final month of the regular season.

Montreal is 6-8 and in third place in the East Division.

Gilyard said in an interview Tuesday that he won't know if he will be on the active roster until later in the week.

"My ultimate goal is to get back to the NFL," he said. "But until then, I want to be a definite threat while I'm here. No questions."

Gilyard was drafted 99th overall by the St. Louis Rams. He appeared in 11 games in 2010 and finished his rookie season with six catches for 63 yards.

After being cut by the Rams, Gilyard was signed by the New York Jets, the Philadelphia Eagles and, earlier this year, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Gilyard is a 2005 graduate of Flagler Palm Coast High School and a former All-American at the University of Cincinnati.
