COPS CORNER: Intoxicated man reportedly threatens to shoot people

An intoxicated man yells things in a hotel, and a handgun is stolen.

You think my toe is here to amuse you?

5:55 p.m. — 1600 Block of U.S. 1. Disturbance. Police responded to a call that there was an intoxicated man with a gun at the hotel, threatening to shoot people.

When officers arrived on scene, they found the individual sitting outside a room with several other subjects, who were all detained shortly while the officers interviewed the hotel staff, according to the report.

Hotel staff said they never saw the man with a gun, but heard him banging on doors and threatining to shoot people. The caller told dispatch the man had several weapons in his car, but none were found in his car or his hotel room.

The man wouldn’t tell police what he was yelling, but did say he was upset because someone pushed him in the pool and he hurt his toe, according to the report. He was trespassed and agreed to not return to the hotel.

June 9

Janie’s got a gun?

4:14 p.m. — 500 Block of John Anderson Drive. Theft. The victim is doing work on a home while its owners are out of town. The victim had been working on the home with his brother and the suspect for several hours when he left to get more supplies.

Before the victim left, he placed his Colt .45 handgun in a kitchen cabinet, and later told police the suspect saw him do this.

As they were leaving the home for the day, the suspect said he forgot something and had to go back in and get something, then all three men left, according to the report.

Shortly after leaving, the victim realized he left the gun behind and went to get it, but it was gone. The victim told police he believes the suspect took the gun when he went back in.
