+ From New York to Palm Coast: Resident brings northeast flavor
Jeff Husginovic moved to Palm Coast about a year ago because, he said, it’s one of the most beautiful places he’s ever seen.

He came from New York, where he owned two Italian restaurants called Sami’s Pizza. He still owns one of them, which is located in Syracuse. But after some time in Palm Coast, it became clear that he wanted to open another one.

Three weeks ago, Husginovic opened the Palm Coast location of Sami’s Pizza, which serves Italian picks like lasagna, baked ziti and, of course, pizza.

The restaurant also offers sandwiches and wings, as well as a delivery service throughout Palm Coast.
Sami’s Pizza is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily at 4982 Palm Coast Parkway N.W. Call 246-5900.

+ Funky Pelican opens in Flagler Beach
The long anticipated opening of Flagler Beach’s new restaurant at its pier came Wednesday.

The Funky Pelican is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and until 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

The casual restaurant features American food, burgers and seafood, including a dish called “Jamaican Me Funky,” — chicken breast and shrimp marinated in Caribbean jerk spices, topped with pineapple and coconut and served over black beans and rice, according to the restaurant’s Facebook page.
Funky Pelican is at 215 S. Oceanshore Blvd. in Flagler Beach.
Call 439-0011.
