Matanzas cross-country finishes one, two in Key West
Several hours away from home, the Matanzas High School cross-country teams continued to dominate, as the boys team finished first and the girls finished second Sept. 22, in the Key West Conch XCursion, in Key West.

For the second straight race, Cameron Allen and Hannah Loder won individual titles in their respective races.

Allen led the boys team, finishing first overall in 17 minutes, 25 seconds. Drake Goodman (3rd, 18:27); Jon Cellini (6th, 18:43); Anthony Colasanti (7th, 18:45); Randy Pires (8th, 18:46); River Marti (11th, 19:09); and Liam Conville (17th, 19:39) rounded out the Pirates’ seven runners.

The boys team scored 25 points (the lower the points, the better), defeating second-place Spruce Creek by 28 points.

The boys team average was 18:25, and the 1 through 5 split (time elapses between the top runner and the fifth runner) was 1 minute, 21 seconds.

Loder led the girls team, finishing first overall in 20 minutes, 18 seconds. Dina Knight (4th, 22:36); Chase Kroul (6th, 23:04); Brianna Evans (14th, 24:02); Danica Leili (22nd, 25:26); and Julia Bower (60th, 33:13) rounded out the Lady Pirates’ six runners.

The girls team scored 44 points, just seven behind first-place Spruce Creek.

The girls team average was 23:05, and the 1 through 5 split was 5 minutes, 8 seconds.

Flagler Palm Coast cross-country finishes sixth, eighth at Alligator XC Invitational
The Flagler Palm Coast cross-country teams competed in the Alligator Lake Invitational Sept. 22, in Lake City.

The boys team finished sixth overall in the invitational and was led by Thomas Carroll, who finished sixth overall in 16 minutes, 32 seconds. Brad Walbert (19th, 17:01); Jan Carlo Vicens (56th, 18:01); Markell Peck (57th, 18:02); Joseph Alter (64th, 18:06); Ashton Garrett (75th, 18:28); Luis Cordero (78th, 18:29); Dean Rulapaugh (86th, 18:36); Chase Rogers (92nd, 18:45); and Tyler Dinero (132nd, 19:59) rounded out the Bulldogs team.

The boys team scored 186 points with an average team time of 17 minutes, 31 seconds.

Josie Davis led the girls team to an eighth-place team finish. Davis finished 19th overall in 21:07. Paige Way (33rd, 21:48); Devonne Friday (40th, 21:59); Sophia Clark (56th, 22:38); Darien Halliday (77th, 23:14); Brittany Marino (121st, 25:25) and Juliya Kruglaka (124th, 25:42) was how the rest of the Lady Bulldogs team finished.

The girls team scored 209 points and had a team average of 22:09.

Flagler Sportfishing Club’s 24th-annual tournament
The Flagler Sportfishing Club held its 24th-annual inshore fishing tournament Sept. 9, which featured 85 anglers and more than 50 fish being weighed in.

Winners from the tournament are as follows:

Trout: Cody Moore — 7 pounds, 1 ounce
Flounder: John Dodd — 3 pounds, 4 ounces
Redfish: Stephen Cox — 6 pounds, 7 ounces
