U16 Florida Force wins Lotto Invitational
The Force, coached by Pat Gould, went 3-0-1 in four games, outscoring its opponents 9-1, en route to winning the tournament for the second consecutive year.

The Force defeated another FC United (another team comprising Flagler County players) in the semifinals, 2-0. Then in the finals, the Force again knocked off FC United, 3-0.

Because of inclement weather, the games were shortened to two 20-minute halves for Sunday’s games.

The team played at 1 p.m., drove to the other side of the complex, walked on the field, and kicked off again at 2 p.m.

“The girls fought hard,” Gould said. “You can’t teach heart. Determination and high fitness level (helped the team).”

This is the second tournament the team has won in the past two months. In March, the team will compete in the Jefferson Cup, which takes place in Richmond, Va..

Pink Army 5K: Oct. 14
Army soldiers traditionally march to a challenge.

On Oct. 14, Pink Army supporters will take things a step quicker, running/walking a 5K race to heighten breast cancer awareness.

The city, partnering with Florida Hospital Flagler, will host the Pink Army 5K run through Central Park at Town Center. The race begins at 3 p.m., in the park entrance.

The course will loop to the hospital and back, where runners will celebrate at an awards ceremony followed by dinner, hosted by Woody’s Bar-B-Q. Prizes will be awarded for male and female top overall times and for winners in 15 age categories, from 14 to 80 and above.

Register online at www.palmcoastgov.com/pinkarmy5k, in person at the Community Center (305 Palm Coast Pkwy N.E.) or city offices (160 Cypress Point Parkway), through mail or pre-race at 1:30 p.m.

Early fees are $30, including goody bags, shirts and dinner at Woody’s. Proceeds from the run will provide mammograms and diagnostic studies for qualified uninsured women seeking assistance.

Individual donations can be made by visiting www.PinkArmyRun.com.
