Although it’s been said many times, many ways, Ormond Beach was turned into a winter wonderland last weekend, for The Casements Guild’s annual Rockefeller Christmas event.
Starting Friday, Nov. 30, the gala stretched through Sunday, with carriage rides, an ice cream social, tea party and appearances from Santa and John D. Rockefeller.
“This is a traditional holiday celebration in remembrance of John D. Rockefeller,” said Siobhan Daly, cultural center coordinator. “He actually lived and died in The Casements.”
But it’s also a fundraiser for the guild. So instead of the usual décor and vendor tables, this year’s event went for more of a party vibe, incorporating ice cream and tea for the first time.
But some things didn’t change — like the gourmet shoppe.
“All of us women got together in the kitchen and baked everything you see her,” Anne Dufresne, guild volunteer, said.
