It wasn't a good night to be a batter for Atlantic High School Tuesday, Feb. 15, at Matanzas.

In the softball circle, Matanzas pitcher Gabrielle Prickett shutdown Atlantic’s offense by throwing a no-hitter.

Across the sidewalk, on the baseball diamond, Matanzas pitcher Joe Rosell threw five perfect innings against Atlantic.

Prickett, a sophomore, tossed seven hitless innings, striking out 11 and walking five batters on 108 pitches.

The Lady Pirates won 9-2, and the two runs scored off throwing and fielding errors.

Offensively, the Lady Pirates were powered by a four-run second inning and two RBIs apiece from Amber Johnson and Amanda Morea.

Rosell, a junior, also threw a no-hitter, but outdid his female counterpart by throwing a perfect game in the Pirates 11-0 victory. Rosell threw five perfect innings, allowing no hits, no walks and striking out 10 batters. Rosell struckout seven of the last nine batters he faced.

Offensively, the Pirates were powered by a five-run first inning and two RBIs from Daylan Holloman.
