Amaiya Wilson, student at Belle Terre Elementary School, won fist place in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Americanism Program essay contest.

Wilson advanced to the statewide contest, where she finished second.

The goals of the Americanism program are to promote patriotism, teach students about American heritage, demonstrate the proper care of the U.S. flag, and ensure that the public will never forget the sacrifices made by America’s soldiers.
