+ Resident wins Firehouse Subs GM of the year
The general manager for the Palm Coast Firehouse Subs location, Jodi Mellem, won GM of the Year out of 418 nationwide store branches in 24 states. According to area representatives, Mellem knows most of her customers by name. She also led her branch in raising $2,140.37 for the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, and her location has historically fed many of the high school athletics teams and recently volunteered to work at the local high school golf tournament. 

She was awarded an Ax of Excellence award, which now hangs in her branch.

+ Groom named Chamber development manager
Catherine Groom has joined the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce & Affiliates as business development manager. Her focus will be developing and executing marketing strategies to maximize growth opportunities for the chamber and its members.  

Groom has lived in Flagler County for more than 16 years. 

+ Golden Lion Café opens new deck to seat 80
The Golden Lion Café, in Flagler Beach, has opened a newly renovated open-air deck after 19 years of beachside service. The deck, which has been extended to 90 feet long, offers ocean-view seating to 80 people. Picnic tables have also been eliminated downstairs and been replaced with tables and chairs. A tropical tiki bar has been added. “It was really just time to do it,” said Tony Marlow, Golden Lion owner.

+ CVS reports double sales revenue at Old Kings
The new CVS Pharmacy on the corner of Old Kings Road and Palm Coast Parkway opened its doors Sunday, April 10. The location recorded doubled sales revenue from its existing Publix shopping center location, according to managerial staff. A Minute Clinic, run by a licensed practitioner, will open in June.
