The Lady Bulldogs soccer team finished its 2009-10 season as regional runners-up with a 17-6-4 record.

After losing to DeLand in the district championships, when they met again in the regional semi-finals, FPC won the dog fight, earning a trip to the regional finals. In that match, FPC lost to Winter Springs by one goal.

Although FPC faces six changes to the team this year, only two key players graduated, including leading scorers Daniella Colletta and two-time Player of the Year Dana Robins.

This year’s team is mixed between experienced and green players, with one senior, seven juniors, seven sophomores and two freshmen.

Leading the team this year are captains Taylor Fulks, Haley Lademann and Robin Allen.

Coach Pete Hald said his team doesn’t have any super stars this year, but it’s a group that has played together for a number of years on club teams.

In that group of returners, Hald expects a handful to improve greatly from last year: Ashley McGlashen; Haley Lademann, junior goal keeper; Kayla Barreiro, sophomore mid-fielder; Victoria Martins, defender; and Miranda Campbell, the returning leading goal scorer.

The Lady Bulldogs have a difficult non-conference schedule to prepare them for their competitive district. Tough non-conference games to note this season are Fleming Island and Oviedo Hagerty.

“January will be a tough month,” Hald said.

Injuries in the first week of play will make it even tougher. Campbell injured her ankle and will be out for about six weeks. Martins was injured during the Nov. 8 game against Seabreeze.

“Creek drew first blood, so to speak,” Hald said referring to the 0-2 loss Monday, Nov. 8.

FPC, 3-1 so far this season, will be on the road until Monday, Nov. 22, when they host district foe Deltona.
