GOVA Gang wins 13U Selfmade Summer Showdown flag football tournament

The team, made up predominately of players from Palm Coast, upset three higher-seeded teams in the playoffs.

The 13U GOVA Gang flag football team won the Selfmade Summer Showdown, a 5-on-5 tournament, July 19 at the Belleview Sports Complex.

The team, made up predominately of Palm Coast players who have played together with Mad Dogs Flag Football, upset three nationally ranked teams in the playoffs to win the title.

The GOVA Gang lost its first three games to enter the playoffs seeded seventh out of eight teams. But it turned the tables in the playoffs, beating the Tampa Bay Bolts 23-20 in the playoff opener, Selfmade 20-18 in the semifinals and Spring Hill Select 21-14 in the championship game.

The GOVA Gang had only two practices together before the tournament.
