Three Daytona Beach precincts will have a polling place change after a garbage truck damaged the main entrance of a local church last week.
Volusia County Supervisor of Elections Lisa Lewis announced an Election Day polling place change for voters in Precincts 604, 622 and 635 due to the incident at the Daytona Beach Seventh-day Adventist Church. The church posted on Facebook that the truck came onto their property to turn around, and drove under the church entrance overhang where it was not able to clear the beams. The city building inspector deemed the main entrance as unsafe for use.
For the 2026 elections, affected voters will now vote at Christ Community Church, located at 329 N. Williamson Blvd. in Daytona Beach
The new polling location is approximately 0.3 miles from the former location.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause,” Lewis said in a press release. “As soon as we learned about the issue at Daytona Beach Seventh-day Adventist Church, we worked with church representatives to identify the closest available location possible for affected voters. We want to thank Christ Community Church for opening their doors for the community.”
Notices containing the updated polling location will be mailed to voters in Precincts 604, 622 and 635. On Election Day, signs will also be posted at the former polling location directing voters to Christ Community Church.
Election Day for the primary is on Tuesday, Aug. 18.
