Dr. Albert D. Mosley becomes Bethune-Cookman University's eighth president

As part of recent inauguration festivities, more than $1.1 million was raised and more than 8,000 hours of service were granted to about 40 Daytona-area organizations.

Bethune-Cookman University recently inaugurated Dr. Albert D. Mosley as its eighth president during a traditional ceremony attended by dignitaries, alumni, community leaders and supporters.

As part of the inauguration festivities, Mosley led more than 2,000 students, faculty, staff and alumni in a university-wide Day of Service. On April 13, volunteers mobilized to serve approximately 40 nonprofit organizations throughout Daytona Beach and surrounding areas, contributing a combined 8,080 hours in a demonstration of Bethune-Cookman’s commitment to servant leadership and community impact.

The investiture also shattered a special fundraising initiative launched in honor of the inauguration by generating more than $1.1 million for student scholarships.

“Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune built this institution on faith, purpose and the belief that education can change lives and transform communities,” said Joyours "Pete" Gamble,Chairman of B-CU’s Board of Trustees. “Today, we honor that extraordinary legacy while embracing an exciting future under Dr. Albert Mosley’s leadership. His vision, energy and commitment to student success position Bethune-Cookman University to reach even greater heights in the years ahead.”
