BOTHA SISTERS WIN STATE SCULLING TITLE:

Twin sisters Yahna and Meraldi Botha of Palm Coast took first place in the Junior Lightweight Doubles at the 2026 Florida Scholastic Rowing Association Sculling State Championships at Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota.

Yahna and Meraldi train under coach Christine Powers at Halifax Rowing Association in Daytona Beach. The twins balance a rigorous training schedule with a dual-enrolled high school and college academic schedule.

PIRATES’ HOPKINS COMMITS TO WARNER U.

Matanzas soccer player Isabella Hopkins has committed to play soccer at Warner University in 2027. The junior is Warner’s first women’s soccer commitment for 2027.

She had two goals and four assists for the Pirates this past season.


FPC’S PERRY, HAMPTON COMMIT

Flagler Palm Coast seniors Anthony Hampton and Nate Perry both committed to Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, to play basketball. The two guards were the Bulldogs’ leading scorers this season with Perry averaging 15.4 points per game and Hampton averagin 14.0 points per game.


SLAUGHTER NAMED TO ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

FPC cross country and track runner Arianna Slaughter has been named to the 2026 Florida Dairy Farmers FHSAA Academic All-State Team.

The award is the FHSAA's most prestigious honor a student-athlete can receive, with only 24 seniors (12 boys, 12 girls) statewide being chosen each year.

MARIAH MILLS 8TH AT WORLD TEAM TRIALS

Former Matanzas and Flagler Palm Coast wrestler Mariah Mills placed eighth at the World Team Trials, officially becoming a USA Wrestling All-American. Mills, a former high school state champion, is a freshman at West Liberty Univerisity in West Virginia. She placed among the top 12 in the 124-pound weight class at the inaugural NCAA Women’s Wrestling Championships last month.

Her brother, Tyson Mills, has been named the West Liberty University men’s wrestling team;s Freshman of the year. Mariah and Tyson have both been named Scholar All-Americans.
