The Lukic Family, of Chicago, were selected as Ormond Memorial Art Museum’s featured family from the museum’s Jan. 5 Free Family Art Night event.
The family learned about the event while visiting relatives in Ormond Beach, said Kaara Lukic in a statement to the museum. They knew they would enjoy it.
"Back home in Chicago, we love going with our five year old to the cultural events offered at our parks, libraries, and museums," she said. "It is a wonderful way to learn, bond with family, and be in community with others."
Her daughter's grandmother, who is an Ormond Beach resident, also hadn't been to the museum yet, Lukic said.
"What a great way to learn about this great place and spend time together," she said. "We all felt welcomed and right at home. It's fun to find like-minded folks in a relaxed environment! We look forward to more visits."
The museum’s Family Art Night takes place from 5:30-7 p.m. on most first Fridays of the month. All art supplies are provided, and the program is sponsored in part by the Women United Volusia Chapter.
The next program is scheduled for Feb. 2.
