OMAM to host Volusia County student art exhibition

Over 140 artworks from 50 public schools in the county will be on show.

The Ormond Memorial Arts Museum and the Volusia County Schools Visual Art Department is presenting the 52nd annual Volusia Students Create exhibition, to open Feb. 6 and run through March 10 in the musuem's main exhibition galleries.

Over 140 artworks from 50 public schools in the county will be on show. The opening reception for the exhibit will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6, with awards and recognitions happening at 6 p.m., according to an OMAM newsletter.

The annual exhibition is held every spring and showcases adjudicated artwork created by students from kindergarten through 12th grade.

This year’s judge is artist Karlene McConnell, of Ormond Beach. A graduate of the University of Central Florida, she is also a former Volusia County art teacher, as well as an art educator and curator for OMAM.
