Palm Coast native Faith Denson is serving in the U.S. Navy as part of the nation’s "Take Charge and Move Out" nuclear deterrence mission at Strategic Communications Wing One, according to a press release from the Navy.

The mission provides airborne communication links to U.S. Strategic Command nuclear missile units.

Petty Officer 3rd Class Denson is a 2017 Flagler Palm Coast High School graduate who joined the Navy five years ago and is serving at the Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma.

“I joined the Navy because I had never been away from home and wasn't mature enough to go to college,” Denson said, according to the press release. "When you're young going into the military, it can be tough at first, but I learned it also gives you the opportunity to help others and make a positive difference."

The Air Force base's central location allows for prompt deployment of aircraft to both coasts and the Gulf of Mexico.

Denson serves as a personnel specialist with the the "Ironmen" Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron.

“I enjoy helping people with pay and helping take care of them,” Denson said. "I always get to see smiles when I help people with money."
