Charles R. Hayes

  • Branch of Military: U.S. Army (Retired)
  • Dates of Service: 1972-1994 
  • Rank/Occupation: Major/Military Police & Logistics Officer
  • Hometown: Monmouth, New Jersey 

Charles Hayes enlisted in the Army Reserve and was quickly promoted to sergeant in three years. Recognizing his capabilities, the Army selected him for Officer Candidate School. He was commissioned a second lieutenant in 1975 and assigned to the Military Police Corps. Among his awards are the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Hayes earned a bachelor’s degree in photography from Southern Illinois University and a master’s in business administration degree from University of Indianapolis. He was a regional sales manager for GAF/Tarkett Inc., for 28 years, dealing in building material flooring. He and his wife Sally, of 52 years, moved to Palm Coast in 2007. Hayes is a member and past officer of American Legion Post 115, Military Officers Association of America, Disabled American Veterans, Knights of Columbus and Sons of the American Revolution.
