Opening reception set for 'Inspirations and Reflections' at Expressions Gallery on Colbert in Palm Coast

Artwork of Suzanne Barrett, Louise Kennedy and Marilyn Leverton will be on display from July 12 to Aug. 31.

Flagler County artists Suzanne Barrett, Louise Kennedy and Marilyn Leverton will have an opening reception for their exhibition, "Inspirations and Reflections", at the Expressions Art Gallery on Colbert, 2298 Colbert Lane in Palm Coast, at 1-3:30 p.m. Sunday, July 12.

Barrett, an oil painter, has paintings in collections as far away as California and London, England. She is inspired by the awesomeness of nature and the joy she finds in her children and grandchildren, according to her biography. She studied with Nicholas Schwab, a well-known artist from Buffalo, New York; Tom Bostelle, a painter of motion in West Chester, Pennsylvania; and Kate Soehner of Ormond Beach. Barrett was a student of Peter Cerreta. She has won a number of awards for her work. 

Kennedy, a sculptor, is a self-taught artist and was also a student of Cerreta’s. Her medium is clay. Her sculptures include realistic images, abstract and fantasy. She has won many awards including Best of Show in a 2023 Expressions Gallery exhibit for her piece, The Last Hope, which was sold during the show.

Leverton has been creating sculptures for over 30 years, first in the United Kingdom, then here in Florida. Her primary inspiration is the human form, and the expression of emotion in faces and movement. She primarily in works in clay, without armature. Leverton is an active member of Beaux Arts of Central Florida and the Daytona Art League. She has exhibited and sold work throughout Florida and has been the recipient of many awards for her work.

Inspirations and Reflections will run from July 12 to Aug. 31. Gallery hours are Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Expressions Art Gallery on Colbert is located inside Grand Living Realty.

The gallery’s current show, Hanneke Jevons and Priscilla Humay, both of the Colored Pencil Society of America, will run through June 30.
